SS12 with Chantal Thomass

Ahhhhh, Chantal Thomass, you know exactly what makes me smile!

What’s not to love? Sexy, provocative and so, so chic, you’d feel absolutely divine wearing any of these pieces!

Noeuds et Merveilles, the sheer cream bra and high waisted knicker is adorable, I adore the opaque bow detail on the front, really cheeky, I love how playful this set is. The striking siren red set, Encens’Moi, screams elegance, channelling the glamour and the elegance of the 1950’s style icons. As beautiful as the set would look on, worn with nothing else but a smile, it would also look fab under your clothes, shaping you in all the right places, giving you a cheeky lift, smoothing any lumps and bumps you might (or might not) have, making sure what you wear over the top looks just as chic. Malicieuse, with its gathered sheer cups and the black floral print is just so feminine, with the black contrast adding a flirty, unexpected edge.

Dress – Topshop £34

Shoes – River Island £60

Lingerie set – Chantal Thomass

Lipstick – Mac Barcelona red

My favourite has to be the silk tie boudoir bra with the silk bow tie knickers.

Sexy and wonderfully elegant, the soft cups made with a sheer, scarlet tulle, this set is completely stunning and beautifully delicate. The tulle is complimented by the fuchsia French leaver lace which has been lovingly hand appliquéd to the top edge of the cup, finished with the pretty silk straps and the playful ties, the perfect finishing touch for any Fleur of England design.

If you have half an hour, take a look round Fleurs website and see what other treats they have to offer this valentines day! You won’t be disappointed.

Myla baby

Taking a look at the new Myla range for Spring/Summer 2012 and picking out the key sets that would sit perfectly in any lingerie drawer.

The Rose collection

The Rose collection is new in for Spring/Summer 2012, a blend of deep navy with a stunning contrast white lace is the ultimate in beautiful, feminine lingerie. The shapes of the garments are relatively simple, however the detail and the interest comes with the considered placement of the lace and the pretty bows. The half padded plunge (the top left image) is my favourite by far, the sheer peek a boo lace is flirty and provocative and you’d feel so sexy wearing the set underneath your work clothes, knowing you had a little secret that only you know would bring a cheeky smile to your face on even the dullest of days!

The Verna collection

Adore the high waisted knickers more than anything in this range, they’re incredibly chic and look so flattering. My big issue with the majority of shape wear thats on the market at the minute is just how bland it is, its black or nude (generally) with no interesting colour or detailing, it’s just blah, worn to hide any lumps and bumps and the thought of stripping off and revealing your big knickers to anyone makes you cringe! I love the cross over opaque effect over the sheer, with the bow being a playful twist, and although it’s black, it just goes to show that you don’t need to do much to create something beautiful. The rest of the range isn’t for me, If the bras had proper straps to support rather than the halter neck then I think I’d be more drawn to it, but saying that, if you want a beautiful lingerie set to wear under a strapless or halter necked dress then why not go for something like this? The sheerness will leave you feeling wonderfully sexy and the black on black is such a classic look anyone could pull it off.

Verna bow back knicker – £85

Verna 1/4 cup peek a boo – £120

The Isabella collection

This collection is really elegant in it’s simplicity I think and represents Myla’s signature style perfectly. Sophisticated, beautiful and finished to the highest quality the range speaks for itself, no gimmicks here! The range is made from an elegant dusk silk satin and is combined with a leavers lace which is exclusive to Myla, finished with a delicate taffeta bow. The bra shapes, the balcony and the plunge, both give a great lift and beautiful cleavage with the knickers being so comfortable to wear on a daily basis, this is another set that you could wear every day and feel lovely whilst doing so!

The Rita collection

Adore this, so much, I want every last piece! The waspie suspender is stunning, and worn with the high apex bra this set is perfect for valentines day! The black is striking but softened by the peachy, nude lace making the set quite romantic whilst still being flirtatious. The seductive sheer lace teases the body whilst the black satin strips frames. Beautifully mischievous you are guaranteed to tease.

Valentines day with Agent Provocateur

‘This valentines day, lie back and think of knickers’

The new spring/summer range from Agent Provocateur doesn’t fail to impress, which each piece being beautifully designed and standing out as being wonderfully unique in it’s own right. Perfect for valentines day, indulge yourself with a new lingerie set that’ll leave him falling over how stunning you look.

I’m going to pick out my top 3 sets, the ones that I’d love to find tied in a pink ribbon ready for me this Valentines day..

The first collection which caught my eye was the Ariel range.

Bra – £125

Suspender – £95

Brief – £110

Thong – £95

You’ve got to admit, this collection is eye catching! The violet lace overlaying the contrast turquoise is really unexpected, the colours aren’t necessarily two that you’d think to put together, but I think thats what makes it work so well. I was in Selfridges last Wednesday and had a wonder over to the Agent Provocateur store, and I have to say this set stands out against the others when displayed, and when I saw the press shots the set really does look just as incredible on. The lace is a stunning French Leavers lace with a delicate eyelash detail, the little pink bows add a final splash of contrast and complete the look perfectly and I think that if you really want to indulge in a set that is a little different and won’t look anything like what you already have in your lingerie draw, this is the set for you.

‘Named for the famous mermaid who enchanted people with her voice, the Ariel range is both softly romantic and utterly seductive.’

The second collection on my list, Daena

Gown – £695

Bra – £110

Suspender – £95

Brief – £65

Thong – £60

Out of the entire SS12 range, this has to be my favourite. I have a bit of a soft spot for a good floral, and if that floral happens to be a rose, well I’m smitten! The Daena print pays homage to the 1700s, with the full roses, luscious leaves and delicate butterflies creating a stand out lingerie print, which is nice to see as being something different to the cliche, expected ditzy print. And how stunning is the top edge of the bra? I think it’s absolutely beautiful! Such a subtle touch, a really simple finishing touch but I just think it makes the bra look so classy and chic, something you want from a £110 bra! What I also love is the gown that is apart of this collection, it’s a beautiful sheer silk chiffon that is so glamourous you couldn’t help but feel like a complete princess as you wear it, a little pricey perhaps at £695! But if you’ve got the income allowing you to splash out, this is defiantly where to do it.

The third and final favourite was a tough choice and I was stuck between two, the Sprinkle range, and the Mercy range. The Mercy set is just so, utterly glamourous..

Mercy corset – £345

But, as beautiful as it is, Sprinkle won with over with how completely adorable it is, plus, as lovely as the corset and the bra and knicker set are, the all in one, crotchless, body.. thing, was just a total turn off, no thank you!

However, I think If I opened a box with anything from the Sprinkle range inside of it I might just burst!

Bra – £95

Suspender – £125

Babydoll – £245

Brief – £65

Thong – £55

I was close close to picking out the Mercy range as my third choice, but I was drawn back to how fun and playful this set is, I think it’s probably how carefree it is, it’s not serious and the expected I suppose, the little flocked colourful polka dots on top of the sheer chiffon is a really unique take on the sheer and opaque trend which is currently all over the catwalks, with the sheer element bringing in a little bit of sex appeal, contradicting itself nicely against the polka dots. The large red bows are the final touch in this bright and playful range, if you want to avoid the valentines day cliches of all over red lace and you want something a little bit different, this is the range for you!

So there we go, my top 3!

Finally, a sneak peak at the rest of the ranges within the Spring/Summer collection, can’t say they’re all to my taste, but the things I do like, I love and the rest, well, someone else will adore them!

Lots of love xx

What’s in a name?

So it’s time to start developing the brand that my final collection will sit within, and I’m struggling with the first hurdle.. what to call myself!

The name has to suit the style of lingerie that I’ll be designing and that fits perfectly within my design aesthetic. Now don’t get me wrong, I love pretty, feminine lingerie with a vintage twist, but I also have a huge soft spot for a cheeky bit of bondage and hard, contrast detailing, so I don’t want a name thats to frilly and sickly sweet either. It’s tricky!

A name is so important, it can draw people in or completely repel them. When I look at the brands I like, and what draws me to their logos, I suppose theres an element of simplicity to them (except for the Lascivious one anyway) but they do all look quite classic and feminine too. Hmm!

I have a few ideas which I’ll let you know when I’ve designed some logos, but for now I think my Saturday is going to be spent all over the online thesaurus and hoping something sparks!

For SS12, La Perla have again teamed up again with French haute couture fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier.

After the success of their first collection in 2010, it was inevitable that they would ensure their next collection would be equally stunning, leaving you feeling like you needed to own the set! Like a pair of Louboutins, this is lingerie worth saving those pennies before.

The collection oozes with a couture twist on lingerie, with an emphasis on the beautiful being key, but nothing is a cliche, nothing is expected and boundaries are pushed, opening up your eyes to a new, exciting approach to lingerie.

Incorporating the iconic, classic La Perla shapes, sets are detailed with a stunning, laser cut, light weight leather, a beautiful lace and overlaid on top of a fine netting, and in either black or nude, both are striking (although the nude set is my favourite, I feel you can really see all of the little details)

The corset is defiantly my favourite! However, at £1,620.00 it’s a TAD out of my price range, but it’s incredibly inspiring. The whole collection makes me feel excited about lingerie again, it’s so far from a ditsy print on a padded plunge which, lets face it, has been done to death and can be a little boring. This collection, as with the previous La Perla/JPG collaborations, always seem to push the right buttons with me and set me off thinking.

Corset in laser-perforated leather matched with La Perla’s signature Leavers lace and very fine netting £1620

Leather short with Leavers lace insert on hips – £360

Thong in a very fine netting and a laser-perforated leather recalling the lace motif on the waist – £207

Triangle bra in a very fine netting and a laser-perforated leather recalling the lace motif with adjustable leather straps – £333

Push-up bra in a very fine netting and a laser-perforated leather recalling the lace motif on the cups – £432

Dress in laser-perforated leather matched with La Perla’s signature Leavers lace and very fine netting – £1800
